Replacing the engine air filter is a maintenance item that can often be overlooked, but a dirty air filter can have a negative effect on your car's performance.
The purpose of the engine air filter is to prevent dust, dirt and other environmental contaminants from getting into the engine. Over time, the air filter becomes dirty and clogged, and will need to be replaced. A clogged air filter can affect both fuel economy and acceleration. It is recommended to replace your engine air filter between 15,000 and 30,000 miles.
